Equity market closes week positive with 2.63% gain

Activities on the local bourse finished last week on the positive trajectory as the NSE All -Share Index and market capitalisation appreciated by 2 .63 per cent to close the week at 41 ,176 .14 and N 21 . 53 tn respectively .
Similarly , all other indices finished higher with the exception of NSE Growth which depreciated by 3 .32 per cent while the NSE ASeM Index closed flat .
A total turnover of 3 .45 billion shares worth N 32 . 73 bn in 30 ,327 deals were traded last week by investors on the floor of the exchange , in contrast to a total of 3. 39 bn shares valued at N 19 . 87 bn that exchanged hands the previous week in 26 , 808 deals.
The Financial Services Industry ( measured by volume) led the activity chart with 1 . 71 billion shares valued at N 13 . 35 bn traded in 15 , 102 deals; thus contributing 49 . 74 per cent and 40 .80 per cent to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively.
The construction/ real estate industry followed with 768 .13 m shares worth N 4. 2 bn in 430 deals. The third place was conglomerates industry , with a turnover of 279 .79 million shares worth N 578 .69 m in 1 , 199 deals.
Trading in the top three equities namely UPDC Real Estate Investment Trust, Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc and Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc ( measured by volume ) accounted for 1 . 22 bn shares worth N 4. 46 bn in 929 deals, contributing 35 .52 per cent and 13 . 63 per cent to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively.
Sixty equities appreciated in price during the week , higher than 50 equities in the previous week . Nineteen equities depreciated in price , lower than 21 equities in the previous week , while 82 equities remained unchanged, lower than 90 recorded in the previous week .
A total of 413 ,509 units of ETPs valued at N 2 .45 bn were traded last week in 42 deals compared with a total of 196 ,29 units valued at N 816 .55 m transacted the previous week in 38 deals.
A total of 11 ,420 units of bonds valued at N 12 .33 m were traded last week in 17 deals compared with a total of 10 ,051 units valued at N 12 .59 m transacted the previous week in 27 deals
