Is Chief Olusola Oke still popular?

Ondo Guber: APC faction endorses Olusola Oke – The Sun Nigeria

Yesterday, Chief Olusola Oke, SAN, announced names of committee members for the APC governorship primaries election slated for July 20, 2020.

The eight-man Oke Campaign Committee is headed by Bar. Kazeem Olarewaju, a former Commissioner for Agriculture during late Chief Adebayo Adefarati’s government.

Since the inauguration, I have received so many messages on my facebook messengers, lamenting about the list. They claimed that majority of the names on the list are people with obscure political background.

There was a particularly message from one “Badmus” that interest me most and I will like to share the message here.

“Good afternoon sir, Chief Oke might have lost his political structure completely. I was dumbfounded when I read the list and if this is what Oke could offer to wrestle power from a sitting governror, then, he is not serious.

“I remember in the year 2012, when Oke made his first attempt to rule Ondo State, he was surrounded by political juggernauts like late Dr. Segun Agagu, Olabimtan, Odu, Kingsley Kuku, Bode Olajumoke and others.

“When he made the second attempt under AD platform in the year 2016, he was still surrounded by experienced politicians like Hon. Bola Ilori, Kolawole Babatunde (Amaechi), Hon. Aladetan, while the likes of Senator Boroffice, Segun Abraham and others were rooting for him underground.

“Sir, kindly note that Oke also enjoyed maximum supports from Osun and Lagos political godfathers. These two states political leaders were major financiers of Oke’s campaign.

“It’s baffled me that so many political gladiators had deserted Oke’s camp. For instance, I was reliably informed that Aregbesola had warned Ilori not to bring Oke to him again.

“Could it be because of the rumour making the around that he is a political merchant? That he is more interested in making money to buy properties in Abuja after election than to win an election?

“With this development, it’s now clear that Chief Oke has been reduced to nothing politically, if the only person he could appoint as DG is Kazeem Olarewaju. I just pity those gullible followers ranting on the social media.
