PMG donates books to Ondo State Pupils in Partnership with the Giveback group

The Infrastructural development recorded in Education Sector by the Governor of Ondo State Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu SAN has put Ondo State at the front burner thereby attracting the attention of BOOK For AFRICA, an American Organization that ships books to Africa every year.

Mr Olanrewaju Yusuf Founder and Ayo Olawande, the Associate Representative, Giveback Group who made this known at the Presentation of Varieties of books in conjunction with the Pentagon Movement Group (PMG) to the Secretary to the State Government ( SSG) Princess Oladunni Odu in her office stated that the official presentation of the books to the pupils in the state was to share the joy of reading and encourage an active reading culture among learners in the country.

” What Arakunrin has been doing in Ondo State particularly in the Education Sector put the State on the map as one if the recipient for the first tranche of books thereby given PMG and Giveback Group credibility in the eyes of the International Donor who was already aware of the giant strides of the Ondo State Governor at revamping the Education Sector in the State.

According to him, the books are the first tranche to be presented and many more are still coming through the efforts of the Pentagon Movement Group. The next step is to go back to the drawing board by the Group, re-strategise to see how much they could do to reach out to different communities in the State.

Olawande further informed that the books are to strengthening the education system in the State.

The State Coordinator of PMG Mr. Lulu Fawehinmi, who lead the team informed the SSG that the PMG in partnership with GiveBack Group were able to attract 2000 varieties of books for the pupils in Primary Schools and Junior Secondary Schools students to assist them in learning process.

Fawehinmi said that the books which is of different varieties like reading, mathematical and computer learning books were giving to the Groups by the international Donor at the backdrop of the wonderful job done by the Governor of Ondo State in the area of Primary School renovations and Infrastructural development in the State.

He also informed the Government team, that PMG has established two (2) innovation Hub in Akure and Ondo town, where they intend to have a mini reading library were students can access other books.

In her response, Princess Oladunni Odu, the Secretary to the State Government of Ondo State ( SSG) stated that she is always delighted to see vibrant young ones giving back to the Society no matter the quantum of what they are given back.

Odu who reveal that she thanks the leadership of PMG headed by Mr. Babajide Akeredolu and she is actually interested in the groups activities because of the empecable track record of the group said that the initiator of the Group has been putting in his best possible in whatever little way he could assist the State and helping so much in the area of ICT in particular.

She was of the believe that before any books of this nature could be made available by the Donor abroad goes to show that the group involved are credible with remarkable track records.

While commending the PMG and its partner, the SSG said that the books are useful and would serve as a reference point in the school library.

‘ For any young ones thinking of giving back to the Society show a level of deep thought and leadership qualities. I know how much efforts and interactions that must have been out in place before the Group could get the books’ she said.

She thank the group most sincerely and assured them that the books are going to be use for the purpose to which the books were released.

She also promised to let the Governor know about the Group’s kind gesture to the State.

Other members present at the presentation ceremony were: Mr Adesanmi Ade-Ademola, Miss Damilola Afolabi, Miss Nancy, Mr Femi, Mr Adewole Ganiyu, while Mr. Dele Akinnagbe , Permanent Secretary and other Directors from SUBEB were in attendance
