Top Ekiti senator is dead


Former Senator for Ekiti South Senatorial District, Senator Bode Olowoporoku, is dead.
Olowoporoku who hails from Ilawe died on Wednesday after a brief illness.

He was aged 74.


The politician represented Ekiti South Senatorial District between 2003 and 2007 as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party.

He was Minister of State for Science and Technology between 1979 and 1981.

He played an active role in the creation of Ekiti State in 1996.


He contested for the 2018 governorship election in his state.

The late Senator was born on September 29.

Senator Bode Olowoporoku, a doctorate degree holder in Economics was in the Senate between 2003 and 2007.

In an interview with journalists at a meeting of Senators’ forum in Lagos recently, the 1983 minister of Science and Technology, narrated how the 1983 military coup truncated the country’s technological growth.
